Morgan had promised Liz she’d fix dinner, so she’d stopped by her favorite upscale market on the way home. The market wasn’t as crowded as it normally was, so Morgan was able to get to most of the things she wanted quickly. She was unsettled seeing David earlier and all she wanted to do was put it behind her as soon as possible. Good food, a good glass of wine, and a hot bath sounded heavenly.

Her mind kept going over what David had said. They had planned to start a family? In what universe was he living? Her planner had the doctor’s appointment in it, but when she called the office they had told her she had canceled it a day after the appointment was made. It had only been an exploratory visit to discuss options, but she suspected she’d agreed to it to shut David up. There was no way she was committing to a family with that man.

God, what a mess her life was.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a woman watching her and smiling. Morgan had been holding a peach for quite some time, sniffing how fresh it was, a skill she had come to master. The woman was beautiful, tall, and who knew they made jeans that looked like a second skin? Her oversized sweater hung tightly around her breasts and stopped halfway down her muscular thigh that ended with tall boots, jeans tucked neatly inside. A tingle centered at her hips and her body suddenly needed to be touched.

When their eyes locked, the woman nodded at Morgan and offered a taunting smile that made Morgan feel warmer and gave that tingle an added boost. The woman gave her a short wave, a wink, then rolled her basket around the corner, disappearing from her view.

What was that? Her heart raced, her skin felt like it was on fire, and all she could think about was finding that woman and…doing what?

It didn’t matter. She felt a sudden urgency to see this woman again that would not be denied. Morgan rounded the corner quickly. The woman was already gone.

Damn.

She frowned and briefly wondered why she felt so compelled to find the woman. But she knew why. She’d been intrigued with the unexpected way her body lit up and wanted to explore that feeling.

After a brief moment searching the store, Morgan gave up. She regretted not taking the initiative to speak to the woman, but what would she say?

“Hi, I think I might be gay, wanna give it a go?” No, of course not.

Maybe, “Hi, I’m Morgan, wanna get a drink and talk about why you’re so damn sexy?”

Oh, lord. She’d need to work on her pickup lines if she was going to go fishing in this pond. Maybe Renee could give her some pointers. Of course she’d have to fire her first, so that was off the table. She liked Renee, so she wouldn’t cross that line.

She’d been coming to grips with a lot of things lately that was making it harder for Morgan to go back to business as usual.
